Assassanated! 4.02 / 5.00 (+ 0.17)

I just bought Assassins Creed II a couple days ago ( ya I know, Im behind the times). Loving the epic nature of this beat O-Prime, reminds me of requiem of a dream. The layers of instruments is what I find most intriguing and ear catching. Real solid composition dude, keep at it brother!

O-Prime125 responds:

Lol glad you and thank you very much man, really appreciate it! :)

Definition of HYPE

If this doesnt get the battle hyping, there is somethin' wrong with the world/newgrounds. That character at the end of the song is amazing, the ears organism!

As hype and swag as this track is, there is almost a 97.56% chance that KlazikNadi will beat you in every battle you engage in.

YEA GURL!!!

Phantastico!

Loving those vocs at the beginning, and then the swipe of them is dope. The calming melody juxtaposes the hard beat really nicely. That drum kit you got is great; loving the sounds on it. So much atmosphere in this track too, I love all the sounds in this. Only critique I could think of is that maybe the snare is a bit too overwhelming, could be simma'd down a bit. Overall , really solid beat! Nice work brother!

DJM00se responds:

yeah i could put the snare down a bit! thanks for the review bro!

Hmm...

I love this flow, I've heard it used so many times on NG, who is it?
Im not too sure if the flow goes with your instrumental though. The energy for both is perfect. I would've like to hear some change up in the beat to correspond with the rap; maybe a breakdown or something. Overall, jamming tune!

Maverlyn responds:

Thanks :) Will remake and repost when i get the time

Techno Funk-a-delic!

Love the layers in this, such a complex piece. The counter melody with the "trumpet/strings-things" is beautifully executed. My favourite part is at 2:34. that riff is amazing! Im interested to see how this sounds with vocals now! Nice work Maverlyn!

Maverlyn responds:

Thanks! And btw the RAP vocal version i have is just some random snippets from a sampled voice in magix music maker..

I'll fine tune this and try to come up with some fitting lyrics or ( IF ANYONE WANTS TO, ADD SOME YOURSELF )

^ Haven't and didn't zero bomb your ungrateful ass^

Aight kid.

+Flow is good.
+Complex rhyme scheme.
+At least this time you didnt bring the quality of the beat down to match your terrible quality.

- Your dubs have too much reverb on them; makes it too obvious that there are dubs on your vocs.
- Some of your rhymes sound forced; anyone can write bars that sound cool, to write bars that are coherent and flow, takes skill, practice and focus. Not saying you dont possess quality bars, just saying some seem a bit gimmicky.

And I know you're going to take this criticism like a bitch and tell me that I dont know shit, but whatever, you can be that conceded DJ Sess wannabe and think your shit is perfect, HDC is gonna keep living hip hop.

Peace? I guess...

P-Balla responds:

You represent Newgrounds' wackest.

Not bad.

Lol @ Eye of Uselessness's review; ignore that fool, he wouldnt know hip hop if it slapped him in the face.

As for this track, I like the beat a lot. The flow is energetic and I like the attitude you got going down. An issue I had was with the general clarity of the bars; this may be caused by the low quality recording, but I think it could also be that some of your bars are rushed and arent balanced with the syllables. Aside from that, this is a solid drop, keep at it Pop Rock (if thats what they call you : )

P-Balla responds:

Thank you for the kind words and the 0 bomb - I really owe it to both yourself and DJ Stressed aka TheBrownEyeOfMusik.

I agree with you on one thing: the quality is pretty shit. But off-time bars? Everything flows perfectly... bars don't have to have balanced syllables (unless you're a beginner, and you can't rhyme with complexity). Please don't critique my work again (or at least learn a little about Hip Hop before you try).

Solid

Wish I played Heavy Rain so I could put this into context, because the music is very deep and emotion. Reminds me of a Gears of War commercial/trailer. I like the dirty sound on the drums. I thought that the transition to drum section to the piano solo (@2:09) was a bit too abrupt, kinda of hampered the flow of the piece, imo. Solid piece though, glad you linked me this, definetly a spin worthy track.

cjsnow1 responds:

I haven't actually played it either. I read about it in Game Informer before it came out. It looked cool and it was in my head for about a week. I quickly forgot about it though. I then stumbled upon the OST on YouTube back in June and remembered it.

Thanks for the review. Now that I go back and listen to it, it does seem abrupt. I don't know how I would make it better though. Any hints on how I would?

Ominous!

This is a sick tune for Halloween, really gots that eerie/axe murdered in the closet feel to it. Love it when the beat kicks in; Id almsot say that the intro is too long, but I think it builds up the atmosphere in this one. I'm not to sure on the weird snare hit though, it's different and it works with this composition, but it almost sounds too dominant over the rest of the sounds...hmm... All in all though, real decent track right here. Keep at it brother cjsnow1

cjsnow1 responds:

I sampled the Snare from the original song (Portishead's Western Eyes. Final track off of their second self-titled LP.) Vinyl Rip FTW! (:

Thanks for the critique. I greatly appreciate it when people give their opinions on my tracks. Hope to see another kick-ass HDC Battle soon. Any chance of using this beat? (That'd be awesome!) lol

Sick.

Really like the rhyme scheme you got going on. The flow and delivery is decent; only part I had to squint (with me ears) was @ about 1:30, sounded a bit rushed there. The hook is really good. I"-I-I-i need a steady place to be.' <- Sick! Hmm...theres one wording choice that Im not sure about, "my motherfucking birth". Nice work twreckz, find that foundation brother.

twreckz responds:

ay thanks alot man. yeah i dont know ive been rapping for a little less then a year basicly. and not too good at this recording stuff. but i do try my best and im glad you gave me some good constructive criticism. thanks man. check out all my tracks and the ones ill be posting soon.
